Universal Search Engine
Description
Universal search engine built in React to quickly search with different engines. Built to be simple to export and integrate into other projects.
Features
-
Easily switch between different search engines
-
Memory to save your last used search engine
-
Self-contained component to easily export to other projects
Technologies Used
This project was built in React with TypeScript, and Node.js. Currently deployed here on Netlify.
Development Process & Motivation
I wanted to make a universal search engine that can easily change search engines like Google, Bing, Brave, etc. all by selecting from a dropdown menu. I also wanted a Search component that is self-contained and easily exportable to other projects.
Challenges & Solutions
Not too many issues with this one, but I had to learn how to redirect the browser.
Future Plans & Improvements
I plan to add the ability to search on specific sites like Wikipedia or StackOverflow.
